Here’s what else you should consider.
1. Consider what kind of work you need to be done and whether the arborist is equipped to handle it. A commercial chainsaw is required for larger jobs to process logs efficiently. A digger, hiab truck, or traffic management may also be necessary.
We have the right equipment to get the job done quickly and safely. We can handle everything from residential tree removal to land clearing, forestry blocks and construction site preparation. We’ve worked on rural, commercial and residential sites.
2. Are they able to identify the tree that needs to be worked on? A qualified arborist knows his trees.
We know our trees, and we use that knowledge to give our clients the best advice on what to do with their trees. Additionally, we know how tall each tree species can reach, how long it typically lives, and what its survival rate is in specific environments.
3. Do they have the knowledge to advise if they can or can’t work near power lines?
For seven years, Chris worked around power lines all day as a utility arborist.
4. What qualifications do they have?
Chris has completed Level 4 Advanced Arboriculture qualifications.
5. Are they aware of how their actions will affect the tree, e.g. will it survive or respond to the pruning or trimming?
We know how removing branches can impact the longevity of a tree because we are experienced and qualified arborists. Additionally, we know how tall each tree species can reach, how long it typically lives, and what its survival rate is in specific environments.
6. Will they take into account the impact their work may have on surrounding trees? By removing some trees, we can expose others to high winds, for example.
We let all our clients know what removing a few trees from a strand can do to the rest. Additionally, we can assess the health of a tree to determine whether it needs to be removed.
7. Do they use well-maintained, professional equipment to ensure efficiency and safety on the job?
We maintain all of our gear and keep it up to date. Our equipment ranges from small chainsaws to large commercial chainsaws, depending on the job.
8. Are they prompt in quoting your job, and will they be able to complete it within a few weeks?
We strive to quote jobs within 5 days and schedule them for completion within three weeks of quote acceptance.
9. Will a qualified arborist be overseeing your job, or will they send someone inexperienced?
Our managing director Chris oversees every job. Chris is a qualified arborist with 15 years of experience.
10. And if you need a tree removed, do they include stump poisoning in their price? Will they cut the wood up the wood into manageable pieces, or just leave the trunk as is?
With our full service, we prefer to take care of every detail. We can even cut up branches and logs into firewood pieces and stack them for you. However, if you prefer a cheaper alternative, we can let you clean up the green waste, or we can fall a tree and leave the logs for you to chop.
11. What’s included in the quote? Make sure you compare like-for-life. If you want a cheaper option it’s possible for the tree to be felled and left as is without any green waste removed. For a full service, stump poisoning, green waste removal, and wood cutting into manageable pieces that can be used as firewood are available.
We provide very detailed quotes so you know exactly what you’re getting.
12. Ask around or check Google Reviews and FaceBook reviews. Get other people’s opinions to find out if they are trustworthy, professional, and reasonably priced.
At the end of the day, the arborist you choose should be someone you trust to provide quality service with your trees’ health and safety in mind.
